Archive for the 'Competition' Category

I received my first ‘referral’ from seo.alltop.com today - lol. I have to admit that our semdaily page is heavily weighted towards PPC blogs…and I didn’t even realize that it was similar to Alltop’s SEO section but more about PPC until Chris Bennett from 97th Floor pointed that out. :) Thanks Chris!

What is funny to me is that I reviewed the Alltop SEO page after Chris pointed it out and I don’t remember seeing anything (or very much) about PPC - and now at the bottom of the Alltop SEO page I see a big section of awesome blogs clumped together that we refer to directly in our semdaily page. Coincidence? Could be…just for the record though, I’m not trying to out anybody - after all, the link to them is followed in this post and they have a fantastic SEO focus…probably why the url is seo.alltop.com.  ;)

What I like about Alltop is that you can ‘hide’ topics or blogs and essentially ‘clean up’ all that clutter…it just takes too much time for me to clean everything up to get what I want so I’m only limiting the space on the semdaily page to a few blogs and most of them will be about PPC because that is what we do here.

I usually tell people that if semvironment is going to lose to a competitor, I hope it’s one of these companies.

They are not listed in any particular order…without further ado, these are the acclaimed companies we admire:

Bruce Clay, Inc.

Bruce Clay is a prominent name in search marketing. Great technology, Inc. 5000 status, and TopSEOs.com December 2007 SEM Training Programs Winner.

Pricing: Quote from their site - “$14 per month per keyword bid per PPC account, subject to a minimum management fee of $1,750 per month”. It’s nice that they post their pricing…I’m confident that this pricing is fairly negotiable but I can’t say for sure.

WPROMOTE

Inc. 500 company, rapid growth, great service, have fun doing what they love to do, and proprietary technology.

Pricing: Dependent upon your budget there is a $500 - $1000 charge or 12% - 15% of ad spend, whichever is greater on a month to month basis. I like this pricing schedule and I like the fact that WPromote is open about their pricing!

Oneupweb

2007 Top 20 Search Marketing Agency by AdvertisingAge, very competitive company, solid client base, prominent white paper research, thought leaders.

Pricing: Custom proposal - we haven’t heard about OneUpWeb’s pricing and have yet to talk with any of their prospective clients.

Read some of their white papers here.

pepperjamSEARCH

An Inc. 500 and Inc. 5000 company, fast growing, great service, and excellent utilization of DoubleClick software to manage a lot of their search marketing efforts.

Pricing: Custom proposal but we heard they prefer to start at $2,000 per month plus 15% - 20% of your ad spend…but that’s negotiable. When we talked with some of their potential customers they said that PepperJam came down to a reasonable $500 per month plus 12% to 18%…but that probably depends on your budget.

Learn more about them here.

iProspect

Considered the grand-daddy or Godfather of search marketing. Very prominent in search thought leadership and research.

Pricing: % of your ad spend that varies month to month. Speculation: I vaguely remember seeing 8% to 20% out there…but don’t quote me on it.
